Aasirvad Residents’ Association, Manamal, Koyilandy was formed at a meeting held on 06.11.2022, at “Mandaram” House , residence of Sri. P. Saseendran, Manamal, Koyilandy attended by the Residents of the Manamal locality.
This Association is a voluntary organisation formed by the residents of the Manamal area of Koyilandi Municipality. This is purely a non-political, social organisation without distinction of Nationality, Religion, Caste, Creed, Sex or political affinity but with stress on the welfare of the members.
The meeting unanimously resolved to form an Association in order to form a Forum for taking up the grievances of the residents with the concerned authorities and also for contributing the overall development of the residence and also the locality.

Membership:
All the permanent residents of this area defined above will be eligible for admission to this association, after paying the membership fee and admission fee as fixed by the Management Board from time to time.
1. Those residing in rented houses of this area will not be admitted as members of the Association.
2. All the members shall abide by the rules stipulated in the Bye-laws of the Association.
The newly formed Aashirvad Residents’ Association by the residents of Manamal, Koyilandi was formally inaugurated on 26th January 2023 by the Koyilandy Municipality Chairperson Smt. Sudha Kizhakkepattil by lighting the “Bhadradeepam”.
Mr. M.P. Jayaprakash, Additional Dist. Judge, Manjeri was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Association President Mr. P. Ramakrishnan presided. Koyilandi Municipality Councilors, Mr. Vatsaraj Keloth, Smt. Drishya M, Political leaders, Shri. Venugopal K., CPI(M), Vinod Vayanari, BJP State Council Member, Congress South Mandal President Adv. M. Satish Kumar and Mathrubhumi Correspondent. Shri P. Girish Kumar delivered facilitation speeches.
Joint Secretary, Dr. T. Velayudhan presented an overview of the achievements of the Association so far, especially the agitation against the closure of the Anela-Bappankad Road, the objectives and future programs of the Association.
Secretary Shri A.K. Unnikrishnan welcomed the gathering and Treasurer Shri. P. Sashindran proposed the vote of thanks.
After the Meeting, there a demonstration of “Kalaripayattu” by the Ujjaini Kalari Payattu Sangam, Peruvattur, Koyilandi. This was followed a variety entertainment performance by the members of the Association. A sumptuous Dinner was also provided.
Efforts taken by the Association for getting an Underpass for Anela Road.
Office bearers of the Association met M.P. Shri. K. Muralidharan, at his residence at Calicut on 24.12.2022, met local M.L.A, Smt. Jamila Malik at her Koyilandi Office on 11.01.2023 and Municipality Chairperson Smt. Sudha Kizhakkeppattil, at her Koyilandi Office on 22.12.2022 and apprised them of the consequences of closing the Anela Road and demanded a “Under Pass” across Anela Road. All have replied that they would do the needful.
We wrote letters to The Regional Officer, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Thiruvananthapuram and Regional Director, NHAI, Kozhikode Stressing our demands.
We also sent petitions to Chief Minister, Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan, Minister of Transport Shri. Muhammad Riaz and also to Smt. P.T. Usha MP, requesting them to consider incorporating an underpass at Anela Road.
We had approached the Secretary of the District Legal Service Authority. They had registered a case and after few sittings and hearing both the sides, the Judge ruled in favour of NHAI. The case of NHAI was argued by an High court Advocate.
We had also sent a letter on 24.3.2023 to the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission who after receiving the letter have registered a case (case No 287/11/8/2023.kkd dated 06.06.2024) which is pending. The Commission in his last sitting on 27.09.24 ruled to summon NHAI authorities who did not attend the sitting of the day.
Next, we did file a case petition in the High Court of Kerala through Adv. Jeril Babu. P. This case was also dismissed in favour of the NHAI. It is to be noted that the Assistant Solicitor General of Inda appeared for arguing the case for the NHAI.
We sent a mass petition to the Union Transport Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari signed by all the nearby Residential Associations and the Municipal Councilors requesting him to sanction an underpass at Anela Road.
We also had submitted a petition to Shri Bhupender Yadav, then Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change requesting him to consider an underpass at Anela Road in view of the additional fuel consumption and air pollution, if traffic of the Anela Road is diverted to Muthambi road or Tamarassery road. We have not received any reply so far.
A colour banner depicting our demands has been displayed near the bypass.
We took initiative and collected the signature of the students of Govt Nursery and LP School Kothamangalam and submitted a memorandum with the request to allow direct passage to their school by incorporating an underpass at Anela Road. The memorandum was submitted to the honourable Prime Minister of India and Child Protection Council, we have not received any reply so far.
01.03.23, we met Shri. K. Muraleedharan, MP at his office at Vadakara and requested him to recommend the underpass. He agreed to forward the letter with recommendation.
On 12.9.2023, we met Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, Honourable Governor of Goa and submitted a petition requesting his good office to recommend an underpass at Anela Road. We have not received any reply so far.
We wrote a detailed letter to Shri. Suresh Gopi, Minister of State, Petroleum and Tourism regarding our demand for an underpass at Anela Road. We have not received any reply so far.
We met the present Vadakara M.P. Shri. Shafi Parambil in person in July 2024 and submitted a memorandum demanding an Underpass for Anela Road. As per newspaper reports he has taken up the matter with the Union Transport Minister and has also mentioned it in his speech in the Lok Sabha.
In the "Thangum Thanalum" Adalat held on 6th May 2023 at Koyilandi Town Hall, our Association gave a petition for sanctioning an underpass at Anela Road.
On 11.6.2023, we sent a letter to Shri V. Muraleedhar, then Union Minister of State, requesting him to take up the matter with Union Trasport Minister and to sanction an under pass at Anel Road.
Our Association had also sent letters to Chaiman, Central Pollution Control Board, Chaiman Kerala State Pollution Control Board and Chief Environment Engineer, PCB, Kozhikode drawing their attention to the additional pollution that would be resulted because of the additional fuel consumption when the vehicles will have to travel if the Anela Road is closed. Requested these authorities to prevent this by sanctioning an underpass at Anela Road.
We have submitted a petition in the district level Adalat held at Koyilandi Town Hall on 12.12.2024. Shri Mohammed Ryas, Kerala Minister for Transport, heard the demand and marked the file to the concerned officers for necessary action.
